A privacy awareness message from your local chapter chair

Privacy Awareness Week is May 10-14, a great time to enhance your knowledge of privacy, confidentiality, and cybersecurity. While the celebration is a week-long, it is essential to keep privacy top of mind when working with health information at all times. The pandemic has impacted us all. We must remain vigilant in our efforts to protect personal health information (PHI), especially given new considerations with so many of us now working from home. Whatever your setting, remember we are responsible for confidentially handling health information. Watch for CHIMA’s professional development offerings during May to help bolster our work in this area.

ABNT Chapter Committee

The ABNT chapter is an integral part of the HIM community, bringing continuing education, networking events and activities, professional development support, and communication services to CHIMA members in Alberta and Northwest Territories.

The chapter is one of eight across the country. It’s led by a chapter committee consisting of volunteer members, including HIM professionals holding a professional designation from the Canadian College of Health Information Management or those actively working to join it, and reports to Nancy Haugen, Chair of the Chapter Advisory Council.
