About the CHIMA Clinical Documentation Improvement Community
The clinical documentation improvement (CDI) community welcomes all individuals who have a vested interest in the advancement of CDI in Canada.
This community encourages networking amongst its participants and is based upon open-source principles to create efficiencies for CDI programs in Canada.
Participating in community meetings
At a minimum, a guest account is required to attend CHIMA community meetings. Upon registration, a CHIMA user ID will be required.

Meet the facilitator
Rita Parmar, CHIM, CCDIS
Rita Parmar is a clinical documentation improvement (CDI) specialist with Providence Health Care. She brings her leadership, strategic thinking, and communications skills to the forefront of her work, connecting with physicians, clinical teams, and coders daily.
Rita also works part-time with CHIMA, Canada’s Health Information Management Association as a facilitator for its CDI community. She engages members and stakeholders from coast to coast to coast to guide discussions, share best practices, and curate resources to support the CDI practice area.
Rita has graduated from the Douglas College Health Information Management Program in 1997. She has also completed The Clear Leadership course, multiple professional development certificates through LinkedIn Learning, and the Coding Specialist Program through HealthCareCAN/CHA Learning. She holds both CHIM and CCDIS designations through the Canadian College of Health Information Management.
