The Entry-to-Practice (E2P) Medical Coding Micro-Credential establishes Canada’s entry-to-practice standard for health information professionals — affirming that certificate holders have the foundational coding and abstracting skills employers trust.
This micro-credential is intended for graduates of accredited Health Information Management diploma or degree programs whose curricula align with the E2P learning outcomes. After passing the CHIM National Certification Exam (NCE) and obtaining CHIM certification, they may proceed to take the E2P National Micro-credential Exam (NME).
The E2P NME examines practical application of key coding and abstracting tools:
-
Use of ICD-10-CA / CCI
-
Application of Canadian Coding Standards
in realistic entry-level coding scenarios.
