In real estate, it’s “location, location, location.”  In business and leadership, it’s “people, people, people.”  In this modular series, you will recalibrate the strength of your social capital portfolio and use tools and techniques to adjust and leverage it to support advancing your career and personal goals.  During the series, you will assess your connections and professional ties, target high-impact goals that create cooperation and partnerships and take actionable strategies that you can implement immediately to expand and use professional networks more successfully in the workplace and for your career.

FACILITATOR

Merida L. Johns, Ph.D., RHIA is the owner and founding director of The Monarch Center, a firm that offers coaching and leader development, specializing in women’s leadership development.  The Monarch Center helps women help themselves to fulfill their leadership and economic potential and break the glass ceiling. The hallmarks of our service are high-impact, results driven, small, personalized tele-workshops, group and individual coaching, and onsite workshops. Please note this program has been customized for CHIMA members and affiliates and is suitable for both men and women.

CPEs

Members who complete this full series are entitled to claim 8.0 CHIMA credits.  CCHL members are entitled to claim .75 Category II credits for each module they attend.  If they complete the full series, they may claim 3.75 Category II credits towards their maintenance of certification requirement.

WEBINAR SERIES

This series is comprised of five-75-minute modules which includes a 15-minute question and answer and discussion period.  Between each module, participants have the opportunity to apply the concepts presented through activities that help them develop their professional networks to enhance cooperation and development of partnerships within their work environment and to enhance leadership and their careers.

  • Module 1:  Social Capital as a Leadership Competency
    Examines the definition of social capital, the reasons why it is considered a leadership competency, and the importance of harmony between personal goals, personal brand and social capital. 
  • Module 2:  Analyze, Diversify and Adjust the Social Capital Portfolio. 
    Considers the critical features of a social network and provides steps and techniques to identify and analyze professional social capital and gaps within it.   Also examines online social capital on career progression and change. 
  • Module 3:  Make Your Social Capital Work for You 
    Examines how best to analyze a social capital portfolio through adjusting, diversifying, and leveraging a personal social capital portfolio. 
  • Module 4: Building Your Social Capital with Emotional Intelligence
    Research shows that people with characteristics that energize others have stronger and better social networks than those who do not.  Emotional intelligence components of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management and mindfulness support behaviors that typically maintain meaningful and positive relationships with others are reviewed. 
  • Module 5:  Leveraging Your Social Capital
    Review and accountability exercise for developing a personal social capital action plan.
