A message from the Provincial Registration Network of Ontario (PRNO)

Calling all health care organizations

The Patient Registration Network of Ontario (PRNO) was founded in July 2005 to establish a forum wherein managers and decision makers in patient access departments (registration, bed management, and scheduling) could share and discuss standards for data capture, policies and procedures, Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines, and initiatives of mutual interest. The group acts as an advisory group to the MOH regarding data entry standards and registration standards expertise. Headed by volunteer chair Laurie Snedden of Lakeridge Health and co-chair Melanie Moore of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, PRNO is currently hosting online meetings but formerly met in person a couple of times each year.

It’s an exciting time for patient access departments in light of software implementations, changes to virtual care, and community initiatives facilitated by CHIMA. PRNO is seeking people to join with the goal of having a representative (no more than three per facility) from the patient access department management team of every health care organization in Ontario. If your organization does not currently have representation on PRNO, please consider joining by submitting your request to Laurie Snedden ([email protected]) with copy to Janna Ball ([email protected]).
