Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Performance and PCOP Lead, Performance Measurement and Reporting (Decision Support), the Consultant will support the effective use of data to measure performance and inform planning for Sinai Health. The ideal candidate will have a track record of combining knowledge of hospital data, creative problem-solving skills and stakeholder engagement to make demonstrable contributions to the realization of the organization’s operational and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clinical programs, physicians, senior leadership and other key stakeholders on routine and ad-hoc analysis of information to provide recommendations for performance improvement, maximize revenue streams and support patient care in a cost-effective manner.
  • Prepares routine and ad-hoc reporting to senior management and executive leadership to support operations and initiatives.
  • Prepares briefing notes, reports and presentations to document and present the findings of analysis, potential options and recommendations.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve reporting processes to streamline activities, reduce duplication, and allocate additional time for provision of analysis and advice.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with Admitting, Information Services, Finance, clinical areas and other departments as required in order to effectively perform responsibilities.
  • Ensures there is comprehensive documentation of all responsibilities to facilitate appropriate backup capabilities in times of absence.
  • Achieves excellence in the provision of accurate, complete and timely corporate information.
  • Promotes a collaborative, team-based approach to problem solving that supports evidenced-based decision-making with clinical and corporate teams.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to review of utilization, maintenance of high data quality and efficient reporting processes.
  • Monitor provincial resources such as websites and webcasts in order to document changes and maintain a current understanding of provincial case mix and funding methodologies.

Job Requirements
Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. information analytics, business administration, health administration).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a decision support role or analytical role; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital reporting standards, including MIS/OHRS, OCDM, Ontario Case Costing.
  • Strong analytics skills and familiarity with hospital clinical and administrative data sets such as Intellihealth, CIHI Portal, IDS, Case Costing, DAD, NACRS, CCRS, NRS and OMHRS.
  • Foundational knowledge of hospital funding methodologies such as QBPs, HBAM, Bundled Care and PCOP.
  • Experience with case costing, utilization management, reporting, benchmarking, and analysis contributing to effective evidence-based decision-making.
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex data and methodologies, explaining key elements and recommendations in a simplified and concise way.
  • Technical experience with programming or database tools such as SAS, SQL Server considered an asset.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of hospital care delivery and business operations considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable with communicating with physicians, clinical and administrative leads.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
