About the Opportunity
The Health Records Analysts (HRAs) are responsible for analysing and reporting data for clinical and non-clinical activities and act as a central point for inquiries and requests for information from all facilities within Nova Scotia Health. The HRAs are responsible for the selection of patient data/records, for detailed data requests, as well as presentation and analysis of statistical information. HRAs contribute to the planning and operation of the Performance and Analytics Team through participation in a number of departmental and corporate initiatives, as well as giving presentations to stakeholders. HRAs prepare customized or ad hoc reports using 3M report writer, or similar writing software, drawing on data elements contained with the Discharge Abstract Database maintained by the Canadian Institute of Health Information. These reports vary widely as they can be medical and/or administrative in nature. Customer service and quality are the two main mandates of the HRA team. At all times, the HRA team is responsible for attention to the confidentiality.
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade XII plus graduation from an approved Health Records Administration or Health Information Program
- Member of Canadian Health Information Management Association
- Minimum of three years technical experience, including experience with 3M report writer
- Experience with International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification and the 10th Revision, Canadian Enhancement
- Experience with Canadian Classification of Interventions and International Classification of Oncology
- Thorough expertise in medical terminology, including understanding of complex diagnoses and surgical/therapeutic interventions terminologies
- Knowledge of other HIS systems such as STAR, Med 2020 Chart Tracking
- Experience using Windows, Word Processing, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Incentives
$28.35 – $33.08 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
