Description of Job:
A Curriculum Developer/Instructional Designer is a professional who supports the development of a post-secondary curriculum in Health Informatics/Health Information Management. She/he will develop in-classroom and online program components. Areas of curriculum development will likely include an overview of the Canadian health care system including its governance and related provincial and federal legislation; the fundamental theories and principles related to health care data; and advanced informatics including coding and classification.
Job Duties:
- Develop a comprehensive program curriculum relevant to post-secondary education
- Develop both in-class curriculum and online program components
- Develop examination blueprint for student assessment
- Align student assessment to overall curriculum objectives
- Align program objectives to Canadian standards for post-secondary education in Health Informatics/Health Information Management
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Education or related field; Masters’ degree is required for university programs
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in HIM or Health Informatics
- Minimum of three years’ experience with curriculum development
- Minimum of three years’ experience teaching at a post-secondary level including experience with electronic learning management systems
- CHIM certification is a requirement for accredited HIM programs
