The Canadian College of Health Information Management (the College) is the registering and regulatory body for the health information profession in Canada. The College is responsible for standard-setting in relation to health information education and certification. The College accredits certificate, diploma, and degree programs in colleges and universities across Canada. Health information programs in Canada must meet the requirements for program graduates to be eligible to write national micro-credential examinations (NMEs). In addition to setting initial standards, the College ensures ongoing adherence to professional practice and operational standards.

The Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is a national and certifying body representing health information professionals across the country. Our association seeks to promote and advance the health information profession through the expansion of the job market for our members, facilitation of continuing education, influencing the direction of professional practice, and monitoring industry trends.
