Tracy Burt, CHIM interviews Lisa McKenzie, CHIM

Learn about how Newfoundland and Labrador‘s health information professionals have overcome challenges unique to their province, how its landscape has changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what the immediate and longer term future may hold.

Lisa McKenzie has been a Certified Health Information Management (CHIM) professional for 11 years. She has worked in most sectors of health care in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), including acute care, long term care, and community health settings. She was previously the chair of CHIMA NL chapter. She is currently the director for health information standards and quality with the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information in St. John’s.

Tracy has worked 30 years in the health care sector with Central Health at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander, NL. She has been certified with the Canadian College of Health Information Management and a professional member with CHIMA since 2010. Throughout her career, Tracy has worked in many HIM roles including records management and policy development for record retention and destruction, scanning and archiving standards and guidelines for regional electronic health records development, and data quality standards for regional adoption records. Tracy as worked in many leadership roles and is currently employed as a coder with Central Health.
