An interview exploring a perspective on the current state of health information in New Brunswick. 

Learn about how New Brunswick’s health information professionals have overcome challenges unique to their province, how its landscape has changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what the immediate and longer term future may hold.

Andrea Creagh is a Certified Health Information Management (CHIM) professional who is the Regional Director of Health Information Management for Horizon Health Network. Horizon is the largest Regional Health authority in New Brunswick and the second-largest health authority in Atlantic Canada. Horizon operates 12 hospitals and more than 100 medical facilities, clinics, and offices throughout New Brunswick. 
Previously, Andrea was employed at the New Brunswick Department of Health as the Director of eHealthNB where she used health information management skills towards data integration, access and identity management, release of personal health information and data standards in the establishment of the provincial electronic health record (EHR) solution.

Stephane graduated in Montreal from a medical records program and holds a master’s degree in organizational management. He has been in the health field for over 20 years and a manager for 10 years. Stephane is currently employed at Vitalité Health Network and spent 4 years as the manager of admissions, reception and clinical archives for CHU Dumont Foundation in Moncton, New Brunswick and as regional director of health information (interim) for the past few months.

Stéphane est diplômé à Montréal d’un programme de gestion des dossiers médicaux et détient une maîtrise en gestion organisationnelle. Il travaille dans le domaine de la santé depuis plus de 20 ans et est gestionnaire depuis 10 ans. Stéphane est actuellement à l’emploi du Réseau de Santé Vitalité et a passé 4 ans comme gestionnaire des admissions, de la réception et des archives cliniques de la Fondation du CHU Dumont à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, et comme directeur régional de l’information sur la santé (par intérim) au cours des derniers mois.

Susanne Surette has held a variety of engaging roles with in different New Brunswick hospitals since March 2002. After taking a keen interest in health information management, she returned to her studies and graduated with honours from New Brunswick Community College’s health information management program in 2009.
Susanne has volunteered with the CHIMA NB chapter since it began, and previously with the provincial association, NBHIMA. She has recently completed the coding specialist program with CHA Learning and obtained the classification and coding specialist certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management in 2019.

After completing this course, CPE credits will be automatically applied for professional members.
