IM and texting are easy ways to communicate in the digital age—and while it can improve patient care and patient engagement with providers, is also raises unique challenges with respect to patient privacy and confidentiality. This PPB outlines the benefits of using IM and texting to support patient-provide communications and offers guidelines for best practice in introducing their use in the health care space.
