About the Canadian College of Health Information Management and CHIMA

The Canadian College of Health Information Management (the College) is the registering and regulatory body for the health information profession in Canada. The College is responsible for standard-setting in relation to health information education and certification. The College accredits certificate, diploma, and degree programs in colleges and universities across Canada. Health information programs in Canada must receive accreditation for program graduates to meet the eligibility requirements to write national certification examinations (NCEs). In addition to setting initial standards, the College ensures ongoing adherence to professional practice and operational standards.

The Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is a national and certifying body representing health information professionals across the country. Our association seeks to promote and advance the health information profession through the expansion of the job market for our members, facilitation of continuing education, influencing the direction of professional practice, and monitoring industry trends.

Please be advised that the completion of this Certified Health Information Management (CHIM) national certification examination preparatory course does not guarantee success in passing the CHIM NCE. While this course is designed to provide comprehensive coverage of the material and equip candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary for the exam, individual success is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s prior knowledge, study habits, and test-taking abilities.
