Paula has had an extensive career in the Health Information Management profession spanning over 20 years. Paula is currently the Director of Examination and Professional Practice with CHIMA. Paula’s portfolio includes responsibility for the national certification examination, accreditation of HIM programs, and the advanced standing program options.

Paula came to CHIMA in January 2013 from her previous role as program coordinator and professor for the HIM program at Fleming College in Peterborough, ON. In this role, Paula successfully developed the program and mentored close to 300 students to successful program completion. Paula has held various management positions with responsibility for the HIM and registration departments.

Paula has been an active volunteer throughout her career. She served on the OHIMA Board for more than eight years and has served on numerous CHIMA committees.

In 2011, Paula was awarded the Joady Murray Memorial Award acknowledging her contribution to the profession and her educational accomplishments.

Paula holds a BHA (HIM) Ryerson University and a Masters in Education from Central Michigan University, specializing in the community college sector. Paula lives in Port Perry, ON, with her husband, Bill. She has three grown sons and one granddaughter and shares her home office with her two ragdoll cats, Marley and Ash.
