About the Presenters

Matthew Murphy – Chief Data Officer and Senior Director of Strategy and Performance – NOVA SCOTIA HEALTH 

Matt holds a Masters of Applied Health Service Research from Dalhousie University, is a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders and an EXTRA Fellow with Healthcare Excellence Canada. Matt is also a member of the EXTRA advisory committee with HEC as well as  a mentor with the School of Health Administration at Dalhousie University. His key professional interests lie in evidence-based decision making, and all things data.

Steven Carrigan – Director, Analytics – NOVA SCOTIA HEALTH

Steven has a Master of Public Administration and Master of Science (Epidemiology). Steven joined Nova Scotia Health in 2017 and spent five years as the Manager of Performance and Analytics. Prior to joining Nova Scotia Health, he worked in analytics at the NS Department of Health and Wellness and supporting health data research at Dalhousie University. Steven is an experienced leader in the realm of health care analytics, with a focus in biostatistics, advanced analytics and public administration. Steven is committed to promoting a culture of evidence and data-based decision-making, across the organization.  As the Director, Analytics Steven has accountability for the provision of analytics leadership, advice and guidance to leaders across the organization by using the analytical tools and techniques best suited for solving the challenging problems associated with the optimal delivery of health care, through a province-wide, multi-disciplinary and cross-functional analytics team.
